What is the difference between INDEX and RANK in Tableau?

In Tableau, the terms RANK and INDEX refer to table computations. INDEX is primarily concerned with the physical location of a record. According to the physical order of the records, incremental numbers are allocated. Whereas, RANK deals with a record’s value. The highest value gets the highest rank and the lowest value gets the lowest rank.
