A stock keeping unit is a product and service identification code for a store or product, often displayed as a machine readable bar code that helps track the item for inventory. A SKU does not need to be assigned to physical products in inventory, can be applied to intangible but billable products. An sku’s alphanumeric code usually a combination of about 8 characters reveals a product’s details.

SKU - Stock Keeping Unit - which means the unit level at which you identify items you stock and sell.
A tire might have a SKU #100 (SKU numbers are longer than three digits) but if you wrap up four of the same tires and put them in a hard to open bubble pack, it becomes SKU#101 since it’s sold and stocked differently than a single tire.
Just think unique item - even if it combines other unique items into a kit, the kit itself is unique.
