What happens when there are no more bitcoins left in a block?

The last of the 21 million bitcoins ever produced will be mined around the year 2140. The halving timetable will come to an end at this point, as there will be no more new bitcoins to be found. Miners, on the other hand, will be rewarded for verifying and confirming new transactions on the blockchain in the future, since the value of transaction fees given to miners is expected to grow. The causes for this include a higher transaction volume with associated costs, as well as a higher nominal market value of bitcoins.
