What are qualities of successful Manager?
- Know your firms rules and regulations and implement them without being a jerk. Be safe, fair, tactful, and clear.
- Good training for management and employees is always worth the money. Train employees as if they are all potential managers. If an expectation is not being met or a mistake is made then retrain.
- Employees are people and do not respond positively to only one style of management. Find what works for each.
- Be honest! If you don’t know find out but don’t pretend to know when you don’t.
- If people want to know why you made a decision explain why. If you don’t have the time in the moment explain later when you do.
- Always thank people for what they do.
- Celebrate all employee/team accomplishments. Encouragement makes money.
- Trust people but let them know you will follow up and then do so.
- If an employee doesn’t like their job then find out why. Accommodate what you can. If you don’t like your job then find another one that you would. Unhappy workers cost money.
- Be open to ideas and have tolerance for attempts that fail. Do not repeat the ones that fail.
