**What are qualities of a successful manager?
A successful manager:
- is empathetic towards the team members
- is good at delegating tasks
- takes responsibilities for successes and failures
- has good technical and inter-personal skills
Good managers need to develop leadership skills. Most aware companies are looking for managers who can get a group of people to do more as a collective team than they can as individuals. You need to develop an empathy for people and an awareness of the work your team is completing that transcends friendship relationships; and can actually get stuff done.
Unfortunately, many people develop skills as workers that serve them well; that will not translate well into management.
While there are plenty of management training programs out there, I recommend you employ a leadership coach to help you prepare for and execute in a specific management role.
