How to handle a situation where at the workplace you met with resistance while introducing a new idea or policy?

While dealing with such scenarios one needs to take a step back and put oneself in other’s shoes to understand from where is the disconnect / resistance arising. This is the fist and the most difficult part as we are so engrossed in pushing our agendas that we tend to miss to see the things from other’ side. Empathizing is really important.
2) Need to be very clear to drive the WIIFM “What’s in it for me” message while dealing with resistance as most of the time people miss what they are getting out of it.
3) Very important to be flexible / open to criticism / questions and ready to accept genuine issues while we are driving the agenda, this will happen when 1 and 2 are taken care of and everyone starts focusing on what is right instead of who is right. All this combined helps to navigate the way in dealing with work place resistance.
