How many times can one take the Common Admission Test(CAT) exam?

The number of attempts is unrestricted. You can take this exam as many times as you want. There are also no age restrictions. However, your score will only be valid for that year. Every year, around 1.5 lakh aspirants register for the CAT exam, close to 1–1.2 lakh sit for the exam, and the true competition for 10k places at top management colleges is likely to be between 20–30k students.

The applicant must have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification from a recognized university with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks in any discipline. Those in their final year of study can also apply for the CAT exam.

To pass the test, you’ll need to be persistent and dedicated. Basically, the majority of people try it three times on average. However, be aware that competition is fierce, and consider other options when taking the CAT many times. This way, if you don’t get a good percentile on the test, you’ll have a backup plan like doing a job while writing your exam. You can prepare for CAT while doing a job also there are no restrictions.
