How is XAT's General Knowledge Section

The General Knowledge Section of XAT has an overall easy to moderate level of difficulty. There are nearly 25 questions asked in the GK section. The scores of the General Knowledge section are not considered while calculating the overall percentile but they do have a weightage when the candidates are being shortlisted for Group Discussions and Personal Interview round.

The 25 questions asked have a good mix of Static GK as well as current affairs. Static GK topics range from Indian Constitution, Geographic’s, headquarters, Capital, World leaders, etc. while current affair questions range from Business News, International Affairs, Mergers & Acquisitions, etc. The students should give a good read before appearing for exams in order to score decent marks as it would help them in the later stage of selection. In the exam situation, it is advised that students spend no more than 10 minutes on this section as the questions can be read and attempted quickly. Students may go ahead and attempt all the questions as there are no negative marking

Make a note of some of the topics that are trending in the news and make a note of it in a notebook that is reserved exclusively for this purpose as it helps with quick revision and which provides you the ability to peruse or skim through them when you are revising for this exam.

Use sticky notes or pens of different colors to make note of some viewpoints so that it stays in your mind.
Association with colors is very high and gets wired into your mind much easier than any other case and this makes the process simpler .

Revise these topics every now and then so that it stays in your mind and that you are not scrambling to revise every topic at the last minute and that too when you don’t remember much.
