GMAT Exam Pattern

The GMAT exam pattern is divided into four sections Writing, Reasoning, Verbal and Quantitative skills. Further, the GMAT is a Computer Adaptive Test of 3 hours 30 minutes and comprises both objective and subjective questions. There are a total of 91 questions.

  1. Analytical Writing Assessment
    The AWA part is of 30 minutes where the candidate has to write an essay on one of the topics. The candidate is free to choose the topic of the essay.

    The score in this portion is on a scale of 0 to 6

  2. Integrated Reasoning
    The IR portion is also to be completed in 30 minutes which contains questions based on reasoning ability and deductive type questions. The portion consists of 12 questions.

    The score in this portion ranges from 1 to 8.

  3. Quantitative Reasoning(QR)
    The QR portion consists of 31 questions which are to be answered in a period of 62 minutes. These questions test the ability of the candidate to solve numerical problems which are application based.

    The score in this portion ranges from 6 to 51

  4. Verbal reasoning(VR)
    This portion consists of 36 questions which are to be answered in a period of 65 minutes. These questions test the ability of the candidate to solve reading comprehension-based questions and critical reasoning questions.

    The score in this portion ranges from 6 to 51.
