In the field of cybersecurity, there are several employment options. You may notice various categories and names depending on the firm or site you read because it’s a very new and continually expanding industry. However, it is typical to divide pathways into three categories:

1) Management: Security governance and oversight roles
The security management and governance domain is concerned with the organization’s cybersecurity supervision and management. Though it’s critical to know as much as possible about technology and the technical complexities of cyber risk, this is a less technical field than others. Instead of setting systems or delving into operational assistance, a job in this field requires programmatically managing security utilizing business acumen, organizational management, and soft skills.

2) Technical: Security engineering and operations roles
This section of the route focuses on the more technical aspects of cybersecurity. You’ll probably spend a lot more time here looking at systems, data, tools, and networks. Cyber risks must be avoided, detected, and responded to. Opportunities to consider include, but are not limited to:

3) Senior Leadership: Focusing on the people
Company culture and leadership, like any other industry, are important to the company’s success. The following are some examples of opportunities in this space:
