Now comes the most important part i.e. making a preparation strategy for CMAT. Your exam strategy should be divided into three phases:
- First phase: Completing the CMAT syllabus
- Second phase: Practicing sample papers and mock tests
- Third phase: Topic-wise revision
First phase: Completing the CMAT Syllabus
You must comprehend the differences between each section and prepare accordingly while studying for the CMAT. Quantitative Techniques & Data Interpretation, for example, is a concept-driven subject, therefore your focus should be on properly learning and memorizing the concepts and theorems while preparing for it. The Logical Reasoning component, on the other hand, is focused on practice, so the more you practice sample questions, the better you will be at this section.
Some parts of Verbal Ability (Grammar and Verbal Reasoning) are dependent on concepts, while others are focused on practice (reading comprehensions). Because general awareness is built on memory, memorize GK themes and occurrences.
Our Advice:
• Begin with the section that you find the most difficult, then progress to the easier sections.
• Do not begin a new topic until the prior one has been completed.
• Do not study two or more things at once; you may become confused at the end of the day.
• The easiest component of all is General Awareness, therefore prepare for it at the end of this phase.
Second phase: Practicing Sample Papers and Mock Tests
The second portion of CMAT preparation should focus on putting what you learned in the first phase into practice. Obtain CMAT question papers, sample papers, and mock exam series from past years. The National Testing Agency, which administers the CMAT, will also give registered candidates an official mock test.
CMAT practice tests and question papers will help you improve your speed and accuracy while also allowing you to analyze your preparation level in relation to the CMAT syllabus and themes.
Our advice:
• If you have already prepared for or taken the CAT, XAT, IIFT, SNAP, GMAT, or other exams, you can prepare by merely taking CMAT practice tests.
• The goal of practicing mock exams should be to enhance speed and accuracy.
• It will help you understand the test format so that you can prepare topics accordingly. This will give you an indication of the types of questions you can encounter — difficult, easy, complicated, and lengthy.
Third phase: Topic-Wise Revision
Set aside a fortnight to go over the syllabus again. Spend more time revising issues that are weak spots for you, but don’t overlook your strong points. Don’t be too sure of yourself. Recall all of the concepts, theorems, equations, shortcuts, and methods for answering questions correctly.
Our advice:
- Finish revision a day before the exam and relax overnight
- Do not study or revise anything on the morning of the exam.
