Bitcoin Unlimited Concerns

One of the reasons why Bitcoin Unlimited isn’t the new standard is because of concerns about forking. Another issue about Bitcoin Unlimited was that enabling larger blocks would increase the amount of storage space needed to operate Bitcoin software, limiting the network to well-funded participants.
Bitcoin Unlimited proponents felt that increasing the block size limit will drive Bitcoin adoption by making payments on the network easier and cheaper.

The block size debate eventually forced the Bitcoin network to split in August of 2017, despite the fact that Bitcoin Unlimited failed to gain widespread acceptance. The bulk of miners and consumers stuck with the previous network, which had a 1 MB block size restriction. Users and miners that modified their software to allow for bigger blocks developed Bitcoin Cash, a second cryptocurrency.
