Today, one can choose a different stream and land up in an entirely unrelated career field. Hence, in my opinion, there is no one stream to chose in order to become a back-end developer.
- Having some knowledge of programming is helpful as one is not afraid to explore and deep dive into this domain. This does not necessarily require a computer science degree as there are several online/offline courses for the same.
- It requires a creative and passionate mindset to foray into this domain which is not something a particular field will teach.
Having said that, if one is sure and wants to align their interests by learning Computer Science, a science stream would be helpful in higher secondary school. Post this, they can take up a degree in Computer Science from an engineering college to strengthen their credentials.
