What is the marking scheme for CAT 2021?

For MCQs, “correct answer” will receive three points, while “unattempted or wrong answer” will receive none.

The following is the scoring method for Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs).

  • Three points will be granted for each right answer.

  • For each wrong response, you will receive a minus one point.

  • Unanswered questions will not be subtracted from your grade.

The marking scheme for CAT 2021 is as follows:

  • Correct Answer (MCQs): +3 points
  • Wrong Answer (MCQs): -1 point
  • Unattempted Question (MCQs): 0 points (no penalty)

For non-MCQs (TITA questions), there is no negative marking:

  • Correct Answer (Non-MCQs): +3 points
  • Wrong Answer (Non-MCQs): 0 points (no penalty)
  • Unattempted Question (Non-MCQs): 0 points (no penalty)

This scoring method ensures that you earn points for correct answers, face a penalty for incorrect answers in MCQs, and do not lose points for leaving questions unanswered.
