What is the major difference between, Transitional and Strict doctype?

Strict DOCTYPE s are actually the default one – HTML 4.01 version and XHTML 1.0 version were constructed to be used whereas Transitional DOCTYPE s are meant for those making the transition from older markup to modern ways.
