Googlebot is Google’s search bot that crawls the web and creates an index.
The bot crawls every page it’s allowed access to, and adds it to the index where it can be accessed and returned by users’ search queries.
We use a huge set of computers to crawl billions of pages on the web. The program that does the fetching is called Googlebot (also known as a robot, bot, or spider)
