What is Google Search Console or the Webmaster tool?

Google Search Console (formerly known as Webmaster Tool) is a free Google service that allows users to keep track of their website’s health and visibility. It contains the following information:

  • A certification from Google that a website can be found and crawled.

  • Identifying and resolving indexing difficulties

  • Re-indexing new or updated material and displaying the site’s backlinks

  • Problems with mobile usability, AMP, and other search functionality are being addressed.

  • Monitoring the site’s Google Search traffic statistics, such as how frequently it shows on SERPs, which exact search phrases bring it up, how often visitors click through for those search searches, and so on.

  • Notifications and alerts regarding spam, indexing troubles, and other concerns.
