  1. Google Search Responsive Ads: Popularly known as Responsive Search Ads (RSA) , they are recommended by Google to increase ad relevance and enhance user experience.

In ETA (expanded Text Ads) you have to enter 3 Headlines (30 char each) and 2 Description (90 Char Each).
However, in RSA, you can provide a combination of headlines and descriptions. Google Ads assembles the text into multiple ad combinations in a way that avoids redundancy.

We can provide up to 15 headlines and 4 descriptions for a single responsive search ad. In any given ad, a maximum of 3 headlines and 2 descriptions will be selected to show in different combinations and orders. The more headlines and descriptions we enter, the more opportunities Google Ads has to serve ads that more closely match our potential customers’ search queries, which can improve your ad performance.

Over time, Google Ads will test the most promising ad combinations, and learn which combinations are the most relevant for different queries.

One thing to remember in RSA is that headlines and descriptions may appear in any order. So if you are working for a brand in which order of the headline or description is very critical, then you can pin the headline. So that Headline will always appear in that position.

Best Practices:

  • Google recommends that 1 responsive search ad per ad group with at least ‘Good’ or ‘Excellent’ ad strength. There’s a limit of 3 enabled responsive search ads per ad group.

  • It saves time to write multiple combinations of Ad & its variations

  • Giving more control to Google’s algorithm helps serve ads in a better manner

  • Ad group performance can increase as it may attract more clicks & conversions, thereby helping us participate in more auctions and put forth our ads in front of right users.

  • Make sure we include our Keyword in the headlines, so the chances of user clicking on our ad increases.
