What is face value?

Face value of a currency is its nominal value where as its real value is its purchasing power or intrinsic net worth as in case of metallic money. Under gold standard a currency was expressed in units of gold. However under fiat currency system it is not backed by gold but the value is undertaken by promise of the Government or the Central Bank of the country.

Example: Place value of 5 in 350 is: 5*10= 50.
Example: Face value of 5 in 350 is: 5. T
he place value of 0 is 0. The face value of 0 is also 0.
