Azure Blob Storage is a service that allows you to store huge volumes of unstructured object data, such as text or binary data, in a single location. Blob Storage may be used to make data available to the public or to keep application data private. Blob Storage is commonly used for the following purposes:
- Serving images or documents directly to a browser
- Storing files for distributed access
- Streaming video and audio
- Storing data for backup and restore disaster recovery, and archiving
- Storing data for analysis by an on-premises or Azure-hosted service
