What is an IIM CAP?

IIM CAP or the Common admission process is a standard selection process for new or baby IIMs that includes 9 IIMs - Udaipur, Tiruchirappalli, Raipur, Ranchi, Kashipur, Bodh Gaya, Jammu, Sambalpur, and Sirmaur.

The IIM CAP rounds include shortlisting candidates after the declaration of CAT results. The shortlisted candidates then go through WAT or written ability tests and then PI or Personal Interview.

IIM CAP is a single common point of admission for all the nine IIMs. Candidates are not required to sit for separate interviews or any other processes for the individual college.

IIM Tiruchirappalli is conducting IIM CAP 2022. The scores from WAT and PI and the candidate’s CAT score are being sent to these individual B-schools, and then based on the CAP scores and academic profile of the candidate, they are further shortlisted for admissions.

The process is being conducted online since last year due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. The WAT roud=nd is being removed, and only PI scores are being considered for further procedures. After getting candidates’ CAP scores, the B-schools have their criteria to select candidates for the MBA programs.
