What is a storage key?

Storage keys, also known as access keys, are used as a validation mechanism for gaining access to the storage services account in order to control data according to our requirements. Although we have the option of providing a main and secondary access key in Windows Azure, we will only use a single access key to verify our application to the storage. The major objective for granting the secondary access key is to minimize application downtime.
