What is a GD?

GDs are Group Discussions that take place after post the first shortlisting criteria has been cleared by a candidate. In Group Discussions, a group of students (usually 8-10) are assigned a topic and it continues for 20 minutes wherein each candidate has to pitch their views on the topic. Some GDs are moderated, meaning that there is a moderator assigned to the group of students and they define a sequence and lay down the foundation of the topic, while connecting the responses of each participant. Group Discussions assess the knowledge of the candidate about current affairs, the knowledge of different domains, and the articulation skills of the candidate. Candidates should not miss an opportunity to lay forward their opinions and express their views on a particular topic. Being well-read and well-organized helps in expressing the thoughts and points in a better manner.
