WHAT SHOULD BE DONE ?
-
Most people expect you to be technically strong because you will be guiding your lower level, such as ASE and SE level, and assisting your team lead, as most team leads will not technically support you as much.
-
After all, they will be taking client calls, such as status calls and other process-related discussions, if you are working on a support project, and the status call will be standard if you are working on an implementation project.
-
However, you must ensure that deliverables are submitted on time, so the team lead is primarily responsible for managing the group, while SSE is expected to be capable of handling technical matters, allowing your supervisor to focus on non-technical issues.
-
Also, you should participate in most of the calls so that you are aware of what is going on so that if you are absent, you will be able to take care of things on your own, indicating that you are ready to advance to the next level.
-
What I have learned/got advice from my managers to grow in IT is that you should always start to take care of your next level things; for example, if I am an SSE, my next career level is team lead, so I will split my work like I should do 70% SSE Level work and 30% management kind of work, so it is just like getting ready for your next level, so you don’t learn things after reaching your next career level, that is also how you know efficiently.
