Tell me about your most successful SEO campaign

To structure a successful SEO campaign here is what we did in brief:

  1. Clearly listed out our business objectives and timelines. What is it that we want out of SEO and how soon do you want it? Be it visitors to website, leads or sales?

  2. Find out our top competitors in the same industry and geographic region where our customers reside. Did that by doing Google search of keywords relevant to your website

  3. Find out all possible keywords our direct competitors are ranking for. Didn’t take into account big players who have multiple product/service lines. focused on niche competitors first.

  4. Compared to the number of backlinks, their DA, PA (from Moz) between our competitor sites and our site.

  5. Sat and brainstorm all possible keyword combinations. You can do so by studying keywords of competitors, your own industry expertise as well as using Google Keyword planner to come up with more list.

  6. Find out keywords which are less competitive.

  7. Focused our money pages on “sell” intent keywords.

  8. Wrote long blog posts for long-tail keywords. Combine 5 related long-tail keywords in one blog and wrote at least 1000 words.

  9. Repeated step 8 until we have good 30 blogs (of at least 1000 each) and have covered at least 150 long-tail keywords.

  10. Started backlinking parallelly along with steps 7,8,9 to our main money pages (step 7).

  11. Keep repeating steps 7-11 for about 3-4 months.

  12. Noted down the results - based on our objectives set out in step 1. checked if there is an increase in numbers.
Worked correctly on the above steps, by end of month 6, we start seeing an enormous impact on our SEO campaigns.
