What is group discussion?

GROUP DISCUSSION

  • A group discussion is an activity in which a selection panel evaluates you and the other students in a simulated environment. They evaluate candidates based on their ability to work in a group. The candidate should be able to collaborate with other students and discuss their points of view on the topic presented to the group.

  • The student must be able to present his or her point of view regardless of how the majority of the team members feel. A candidate may not be on the same page as his teammates. It is also necessary to be able to listen to and appreciate the viewpoints of other team members.

It’s not a debate.

  • Group discussions are classified into four types: factual discussions, controversial discussions, abstract discussions, and case discussions. The format of group discussions varies by university. Each has its method of evaluating candidates. Each format is unique in its way and brings out the personality of each participant in a unique way.
