Is it a good Idea to quit your job for further studies?

Hi, that’s a great question.

It always depends on “Why”. Is it

  1. To acquire a specialist skill within your field
  2. To get a mandatory requirement for that lucrative promotion
  3. Change career track
  4. Just to earn more
  5. Peer pressure, brand value or other such

For 1&2 there are many high quality part time/evening/online hybrid courses from good institutions

For 3 - I would advise taking a clean break

For 4 - It’s all about ROI. Take into account the opportunity cost of lost income, cost of education (incl. financing costs involved) for a 5-7 year horizon.

For 5 - If you are happy in your current job and think you have a career track where you can grow to meet your own expectations consider adding more effort in that job and focus on points (1) and (2) described earlier to keep the learning going.
