Data Scientist is most coolest job of this decade.

It depends entirely on the company, team, objectives, etc. Traditionally a data scientist is halfway between statistician and software engineer. Now you have “data scientists” that are just software engineers who occasionally calculate an average and display a bar graph, and “data scientists” who use non-engineering solutions like SAS.
