How early should I start GMAT preparation?

The duration of preparation for most MBA entrance exams like the GMAT tends to be very subjective and depends on your existing competency in mathematics and English. However, it is recommended that you start no less than three months before your planned test date in order to give yourself the time to get accustomed to the pattern of the test so that you are not entering the examination blind. Make sure to keep a minimum gap of six weeks between your test date and your earliest business school deadline, in order to take into consideration the amount of time GMAC generally takes to send your scores to the business school. Further, if you plan on taking multiple attempts in order to give yourself room to improve your score, make sure to give yourself at least two weeks between attempts to ensure that you have enough time to prepare for the second attempt and influence a sufficiently significant score improvement.
