Regression and Forecasting difference.

Regression deals with understanding independent and dependent variables which help to make predictions on the new data. Forecasting is a probabilistic statement, usually over a longer time scale. Ex: there is a 60 percent chance of an earthquake in Southern California over the next thirty years.
