Explain quirks, full standards, and almost standards mode

The three modes for layout engines in web browsers are quirks, full standards, and virtually standards mode.

The layout in quirks mode mimics nonstandard behaviour in Navigator 4, Internet Explorer 5. This is commonly used for websites that were created prior to the adoption of web standards.

The HTML and CSS specifications define the behaviour in full standards mode. This mode is used by the majority of contemporary browsers.

Only a limited number of oddities are implemented in virtually standard mode.
