Hlookup works similar to VLOOOKUP. The difference is instead of looking vertically like VLOOKUP does it looks up Horizontally.

Say for example you have row headers instead of column headers and you want to look up a value. In such a case you can use Hlookup. Below is an example:

Alternative to Vlookup or Hlookup is INDEX and MATCH function used together or you can use the latest XLOOKUP function. It is a killer function that can retrieve data from the left as well, meaning your lookup value does not need to be in the first column/row. Moreover, when you have duplicates and want to retrieve the second match you can do so.
