Can I become a data scientist with no experience?

While a person technically become a data scientist without any prior experience in a relevant field; but it would be extremely difficult and challenging specifically taking into consideration the immense competition in this field. Therefore, candidates with an undergraduate degree in the field of mathematics, statistics or computer science could be a good starting point.

Other than that, a data scientist should ideally possess certain business know-how as well so as to provide relevant solutions & insights to business – this is also a difficult trait to possess without prior relevant experience.

No one born with experience. So the answer to your question is yes.

People mostly busy learning the technologies only. But they don’t focus on resume optimization, profile building, soft skill improvement, active job search and follow up for the applied jobs. So the resume is not getting selected and you feel, it’s very difficult to get a job.

So learn statistics, visualization tools(tableau, powerbi), programming tools (python, R), databases(Mysql, Nosql). Different machine learning algorithms. Along with that do focus on the soft skills and other things mentioned above.
