The term “prestigious” is highly subjective. But first, let me explain what I consider to be distinguished.
I would consider such a position prominent if the work you perform has a substantial influence on tackling global issues and provides an immediate benefit to humans, animals, and the environment. In fact, I believe it to be awe-inspiring.
This category includes geologists, wildlife biologists, remote sensing specialists, food sustainability specialists, climatologists, oceanographers, and any other environmental sustainability profession.
They also travel extensively, not just to attend conferences, but also to examine samples in exotic/remote locations such as the arctic, collaborate on projects, and make observations in order to improve the world.
