What Is Intermodal Freight?

Products and raw materials are carried in containers by a variety of vehicles, including container ships, semi-trailer trucks, and trains, as part of intermodal freight. Containers built for intermodal freight frequently follow International Organization for Standardization (ISO) dimension requirements, allowing freight to remain in the same container rather than being put into a new container of different size while moving between modes of transportation.
