What Is Asset Backing?

The entire value of a company’s shares in proportion to its assets is referred to as asset backing. It refers to the entire worth of a company’s assets divided by the number of outstanding shares it has issued. Asset backing, in the context of investing, refers to security whose value is derived from a single asset or a pool of assets; these holdings function as collateral for the security, thus “backing” it.
