  • Give a salary range: But keep the bottom of your stated range toward the mid-to-high point of what you’re actually hoping for, Fink says.
  • Flip the question: Try something like “That’s a great question—it would be helpful if you could share what the range is for this role,” Fink says.
  • Delay answering: Tell your interviewer that you’d like to learn more about the role or the rest of the compensation package before discussing pay.

As always , just be truthful. before the interview you should have done research for what the job was worth and come to your own conclusions. This is an opportunity to be honest and transparent. If they have not given any guidance with the job advert they may just try to get away with as little as as they can. So if you have no intelligence from glassdoor or the internet start at the high end and set your minimum at what you cannot go below at stick to that at all costs.
