Understanding correlation

What is the correlation?

Correlation is a term that is a measure of the strength of a linear relationship between two quantitative variables.

Correlation is essentially a measure of how closely two variables are related to each other.

Higher the correlation, more closely the two variables are related to each other.

E.g education is in general closely related to income

But correlation is a measure used to measure relation between only numeric variables. It can’t be used to measure relation between non numeric variables like grade.
