Tell me about yourself

HOW TO START?

  • When introducing yourself, don’t tell them your name. Begin with your most recent
qualification. When you tell them about your graduation, tell them about any internships
you did and what you learned from them. Create a narrative that leads them to your work
    experience, if any.

  • When discussing your work experience, explain your role and responsibilities, Inform them
of your major accomplishments. Explain some of your key takeaways and how they will help
you become a better version of yourself.

WHAT IT CONVEYS ?
Your response will reveal a lot about your personality to the interview panel. Also, try to connect
your internship and job experience to why you want to pursue an MBA. It’s a necessary skill when attempting to weave a story. Everything should fall into place so that every nuance reflects your
desire to pursue an MBA. That is ultimately what the interview panel wants to hear.

We run a lot of workshops at Board Infinity in which the panelists discuss how to master the skill of giving an interview.

This Question is not only common in CAT interviews but also an interview in later stages. There are also different views on the chronological order of framing i.e. you can either start from schooling to your current scenario or the other way around

You should include Generally :

  1. Your basic details - Name can be optional, Current occupation, Family details like what kind of family( Agricultural, Business, etc. if you want)
  2. Tell about your work experience or your life experience
  3. Mention one or 2 greatest achievements you think that highlight your characteristics and strengths - these are the examples to back your strength. If you say you are hard working you need to have a solid example to articulate it.
  4. Be sure to add passions and hobbies, Don’t explain too much about them - if the interviewer is interested in them he will ask you.

In an interview when describing anything be sure not to explain everything about them. You are going to drop various hints in your introduction hoping to catch the interest of your interviewer, Or else he won’t have much to ask about and then goes on about GK and your engineering. This is how you lead an interview.
