Restricted Shares

Restricted shares are an outright award of stock ownership in a corporation, as the name implies. They’re most prevalent in large corporations that aim to encourage employees by providing them a stake in the company.
They are, however, generally vested. That is, restricted shares are granted to employees on the condition that they stay with the firm for a certain number of years or until a certain corporate milestone is reached. This might be a monetary aim or something else.
