How to prepare for logical reasoning in CMAT exam?

To decipher logical thinking, one must first understand its nature. There are no formulas to memorize or theorems to understand in this section. You have to solve the question based on the available data and thus develop problem-solving skills. Check out some CMAT prep tips and tricks to decode reasoning:

  • The most common form of reasoning question is the Complete Series. A series of images will be displayed and the contestant must choose which image from the given option completes the series.
  • The CMAT reasoning questions may seem unfamiliar and confusing at first. Read the questions slowly. Don’t look at the answer options first as it won’t help you if you don’t understand the questions. It can actually confuse you even more.
  • For visual reasoning questions, examine each image individually to understand the common theme. This helps in deducing which of the four options given is the correct answer.
  • When solving a question, be aware of suggestive words such as ‘including’, ‘only’, ‘other than’ and ‘unless’. Look for prefixes like non-, un-, dis-, etc. · As you read the reasoning question, note the data provided and the key points. Make it a habit as you practice sample questions.
